2025 was one of those years that fills your cup (and your notebook).
My most exciting achievement this year was finishing up the loose ends needed for the structured literacy dyslexia interventionist certification. This bad boy took a LOT of work to achieve including dozens of hours preparing, recording and implementing case study lessons.
I spent a lot of time this year learning more about reading, dyslexia, and how language works in real kids and real classrooms. I went deeper into understanding why reading is hard for some learners and what actually helps (not just what sounds good on paper).
The best part of professional learning for me is when it sparks curiosity and excitement. When you leave with new ideas, better questions, and that feeling of “ohhh, that makes sense now.” This year had a lot of those moments.
Again and again, I was reminded how powerful clear and structured reading instruction can be (especially when it’s paired with patience, encouragement, and respect for how each brain works). There are no magic shortcuts in reading. But there is really good teaching, and it makes a difference.
I’m heading into the next year feeling energized, inspired, and excited about what’s ahead. I’m grateful for the learning, the conversations, and the chance to keep growing in work I care deeply about.
